Hermetia Oil is the fat extracted from the larvae. It is yellow in color and at room temperature can be semi-solid.
The main component is lauric acid (40-60%), with good amounts of palmitic, myristic and oleic acid (~10%); there are also smaller amounts (<5%) of linoleic, linolenic and arachidonic acid.
The fatty acid composition varies depending on the substrate used to feed the larvae. We’re developing a way to achieve quality consistence for this product even on large volumes.
It is possible to customize the fatty acid composition and the process (for example, we may or may not deodorize the product) in order to adapt it to customers’ needs; contact us for more details.
